Domestic Violence Shelter Fund
Program Title: Arkansas Domestic Violence Shelter Grant Program
Program Funding Period: July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021
Program Description:
The Arkansas Domestic Violence Shelter Grant Program is designed to assist in the funding of domestic violence shelters in Arkansas. The Domestic Violence Shelter Fund (DVSF) was created by Arkansas Act 583 of 2017 to provide a method of helping support domestic violence shelters and programs through grants funded by special revenues under A.C.A. § 9-15-202(d) and A.C.A. § 16-10-305(h). Each shelter receiving funds under this chapter will be evaluated annually for compliance with the program, fiscal, and training requirements. This program provides services including food, housing, advice, counseling and assistance to victims of domestic abuse and their dependents. DVSF may provide training and technical assistance to shelters receiving funds. This program may also serve as a clearinghouse for information relating to domestic abuse and provide educational programs on domestic abuse for the benefit of victims, their families, and the general public.
Eligible Entities:
Eligible entities are statewide domestic violence entities that provide all the required core and continuing education for statewide domestic violence shelters and programs. Each entity is governed by a board of directors that is made up of a majority of publicly funded statewide domestic violence shelter program directors. The entity must function as the clearinghouse of domestic violence statistical data for Arkansas and exclusively service domestic violence programs.
